Vasiliy Stepanov is perhaps best known for playing in S A D duo, he has long been finding ways of escaping the trappings of their ambient sensibilities, playing in various Moscow free jazz collaborations in 2016 and pushing himself musically. On his album Vasiliy delves even further into the spiritual drone and it's a cosy record before his playing an eclectic afrofuturism.

Stepanov’s album for ДУХ is a surprising lost highlight of 2010, a crazy melange of multi-layered sounds in to a playfully odd and highly original, skewed droney vision. One of the primary factors for the originality of the project is the sound sources themselves. Casio and Vermona organs, electronics and clicks are P-SH’s playthings and various associates back him up with strings, toy piano and guitar. On paper this might seem like no big deal, but once it rolls you are plunged to a world where every sound has been through several mirrored labyrinths. These are drone pieces intersecting plateaus of gaudy and baroque dada noise but now with a slightly less jagged flow, Vasiliy running on a smoother surface.
